Bound By Ink
Okay, some of you may be wondering, "what's the big deal about getting a tat?"
Well, because MD (
Scott Mapes) had  vehemently  stated in the past that he would NEVER get one (though
he did briefly consider one after the  9/11 attacks).
But sitting around with BDC (David Bell) and some mutual acquaintances one night, the subject again came
up. After some discussion, and more of  saying he'd never get one, MD laid this on the table : "If anything off of
our next project sells a quarter of a million copies, I'll get one."

A quarter of a million?! MD,
nobody, outside of musicians, even knows about us!

"That's the point" he replied, "cause I don't want a tat!"

Somehow, we got him to agree that if we sold 250,00 copies of ANYTHING, he would do it.

That's where YOU dear reader, come in. Our next project will be out  late 2008 or early 2009, and we can
honestly say it will totally blow away anything we've done before. (But, don't all musicians say that?)

But, in an effort to move some Unit's (and get MD into a tattoo parlor) We've launched a massive e-mail
campaign and lowered the prices on
complete MP3 album downloads for our first two albums (Our second
CD is really a compilation starting from the very first demo
WAY back when, and contains most of the tracks
off of our first CD)

If you want to check out our songs they are available on Amazon, but why pay 99-cent for one song when you
can get
an entire album from CD Baby  for just over a dollar each for Mapping the Labyrinth or
Chronology of Chaos.) Note: WE-with MD's permission-set the price this low ourselves, so don't think
CD baby is hosing us!
MD thinks even with prices this low, nobody will bite, and he'll be safe from the
needle.
So show him wrong!! Click on an album title and part with a  buck.

                 Here's a link for
full length samples from Mapping the Labyrinth.
And here's some 30 second Chronology of Chaos samples on Amazon. Remember, Chronology of
Chaos is a compilation, so you will see repeat song titles from Labyrinth. (Also remember, it starts with our
very first demo, so the sound quality isn't the best on the first few songs).

"Requiem for a Coward (Wrath of a Nation") and the instrumental "Marshall Law" are only available on
Mapping the Labyrinth or as single song downloads. (But you can always listen to "Requiem" in it's entirety
here. And Marshall Law plays on MD's page.)

Note: if you download one of our MP3 albums from CD baby, we'll know about t instantly. If you download from
anywhere else, not only will you pay more , but it may take up to three months before we know about it.
As you might have guessed by now, MD is pretty dead-set against having some art work permanently applied
to his person. So let's say  if you help us with our little practical joke on MD, how do YOU know he'll go through
with it?!
Trust us on this, "bound by honor" is one phrase that definitely applies to this guy. (Bloated with Mountain Dew
and Chinese food is another, but that's a whole 'nother page!)

He's even picked out what he'd get. An image called the
Chiro, which is an integral part to the title track of our
upcoming studio project
By the way, if enough of people buy, we're also going to spring for singing lessons for MD!! He's improved a LOT since
we recorded Labyrinth (just listen to the difference between the 1996 and 2003 versions of Reflections), but he'll be the
first to own up to his limitations.
If you don't really care for the music,
but would still like to help us make MD get a tat,
then

Check back to this page to see how we're doing, and hopefully to see MD's new
permanent skin painting!
Click an album cover to listen to samples.
Keep reading to find out how to get either one for only $1.11 USD,
and how you can help us make MD get inked!
See bottom of the page for free mp3 album offer.
Remember, if you like the harder edged
songs, send a blank e-mail to
mp34free@skovolunit.com, and put
"Free MP3 as the subject.
If we move enough of our current albums to
make MD get ink,  the first 2,500 people
who send us a blank e-mail will get an MP3
version of our next project for FREE, and 25
will get the CD version for free.
Just before we were ready to launch this, we told MD "trust us, you're gonna get inked". He said, "Sure I am.
" and then said if we sold a significant number of downloads, he would let his current Commercial Driver's
License expire! Now
that we would like to see. Not because we want him to give it up, it's just something we
never thought he'd say or do.(He wouldn't say what the "significant number" was.) But, we know he has an
endorsement to carry hazardous materials. That endorsement cost $100.00 in addition to the regular
license cost, so we would imagine that a "significant number" is probably out of reach.
By the way, even though we're doing this behind MD's back, he is the one who has access to the
download/sales stats from all the websites. So, he'll know how many were sold before anybody. (And yes,
we trust him to report it.)
Should Scott have to keep his word and get inked?
(that is, IF we sell the required number of downloads?)
Yes! He gave his word, he shouldn't back out.
No! Not if you're pulling this behind his back!
Undecided. (You're being sneaky. But a man's word is his word)

On September 14 2008, 4:16 EST, we
received an e-mail from the advertising
company that the campaign had been
launched.
At 7:30 pm,on Sept. 14  the web master
phoned MD and told him of our little joke. He
actually laughed about it. (We wouldn't do
this if he didn't have a great sense of humor.)
He knew we wanted to lower the price of
MP3 downloads.
He had no idea of the e-mail campaign until
tonight. He said he's "not really worried", but
that of course he would live up to his end of
the deal. (Just like we said he would.)
So, what's this "tattoo bet" of MD's?! Well, MD, a guy who said he
would
never  get a tat, has said that if we sold 100,000 copies of
anything off of B.A.M. , he would get a tat of a Chiro on one of his
shoulders.

Now you're probaly wondering, what's a Chiro?! Well, that's explained
here
The next question you undoubtedly have is "Well, if you're not going
to release a full-length CD anymore, how's that going to work? Ah, if
you thought MD might've found a loophole out of the bet, he's got
another thing comin'!

Here's a list of the songs that were originally planned for the B.A.M.
project. If any of these sells at least 100,000 copies, MD has to get a
tat. Note, the deal was for 100k of any one song. So if all the songs
combined come out to 100k, he does, in fact have a loophole to
exploit and get out of it. These songs will be marked when they
become available for download.

1) Blind Faith Failing (ready to mix)
2 )Abacus
3) Everest (ready to mix)
4) Sellout
5) B.A.M. (ready to mix)
6 )Snowbling
7) Negative Charge (not the version currently available)
8) Cybertage
9) Cry Wolf
10) Negaglory
