UROBOROS

Lyrics and Music by David Bell.
David Bell::Drums,Percussion,Acoustic and Electric Guitars
Scott Freeman::Vocals
Scott Mapes::Basses

The seeds of life fervently sprout
from the morbid decay of the dance
trapped in the stare of spinning desire
evolution molds us in this trance
the feasting germ coils where it can't be found
and the echoes of blissful addiction resound

(chorus)
Writhing within the wrath
of an ancient war
Building the arena of hate
with such elegant lore
Instinct residing in shades
of such subtle extremes
Can we ever escape
the suffocation of our own being?

Bound to myths that only obscure
the venom welling up at the core
deceptive ritual--aesthetics of pain--
the gravity endures the circular force
twisting gently into cold frontiers
and drowning in the slithering tears

Embraced within the consuming shadows
actions reflect the harbored schemes
masks endure the illusion of love--
selfishness is the thread of all life's themes
humanity's cycle of destructive relations
driven by the fear of annihilation

Writhing within the wrath
of an ancient war
Building the arena of hate
with such elegant lore
Instinct residing in shades
of such subtle extremes
We can shed this skin,
ascending to a new reality

Conspiracie en Rouge

Lyrics and Music by Scott Mapes
Scott Mapes:: Guitars,Bass,Vocals
David Bell: Drums and Percussion

Red dawn on an April morning, something caught my eye
Red alert inside my psyche said it wasn't right
Distant storm on the horizon blowing in full force
I turned around to run away, but turned and looked once more

Have you ever stopped to notice this big world is so small?
Minimal were the chances that these paths would cross
Yet I stumbled upon your deceptive conspiracy
One event can bend perception of your reality

You don't believe I'd help a stranger? Well, maybe I'm just naïve
But things happen for a reason is something I believe
A beggar man taught me a lesson that is still with me today
One good deed begets another, and always you are repaid

I tried so hard to sway your thinking and make you see the light
I was oblivious to the obvious right before my eyes
In my pursuit of justice, perhaps I crossed some lines
But eventually you acknowledged the severity of your crime

I guess that I should thank you what you put me through
Then again, I stepped in where nobody asked me to
Sometimes, you  have to listen to the little voice inside
Maybe you'll stumble a little before you hit your stride

Red dawn on the first May morning, I think it looks okay
She extended the hand of friendship out to me this day
So again I will thank you for your deceptive ruse
Learn from it what you will, and start again anew

Requiem for a Coward (Wrath of a Nation)
Battle plan and sonic attack conceived by:Scott Mapes (with credit to Dave for
the "Shroud of flames" implementation.

Scott Mapes:: Drill Sergeant,,Subsonic Concussion Bombs,,Rapid-Fire Six-
String Note Spread,,Choir of Impending Doom....

David Bell,,Mercenary Percussive Attack

Satanic Reich had risen to try and take us out
But a mighty giant awakened to swing the hammer down
Twin Towers toppled in an act of cowardly disgrace
By a demonic abomination to the human race

If you're so strong and mighty, tell me why you hide!
You know we're going to get you squarely in our sites
Only a matter of time until your destiny and death the same
Blessed be the blazing bullet that bears your bastard name

CHORUS
Don't tread on me unless you're ready to reap the wrath
These colors don't run, talons are poised for counter attack
Don't tread on me, spineless coward who runs and hides
We've yet begun.....we've yet begun to fight!

Not just an attack on me
And not just my country
But an attack on liberty
For all the good world to see

You think you'll see Heaven?!
Oh..you probably will
I'm sure they'll let you look up at it
From your shroud of flames in Hell!

Grief turns to anger turns to resolution
The armor is dented, but the spirit's not broken
You only forged the mettle of our resolve
So shall arise the day we smoke you out

You say your god commanded this insanity?
Then damn you eternally for your blasphemy
Hold to thine lips vented grapes of wrath of a nation
Slowly sip the Chablis of your termination

REPEAT CHORUS

Have a Nice Day...(Always)
(Part 3 of
The Corporate Greed Trilogy)

Lyrics and Music by Scott Mapes(with some really cool suggestions from
Dave).....
Scott Mapes:Guitars,Basses,Vocals...
David Bell:Drums and Cymbals...
John Gillispie:Keyboards.

You shake my hand and smile
as you stab me in the back
Twist the knife between my ribs
like I don't notice that

You rub the salt into my wounds
and tell me not to scream
The bitter bile burns in my mouth
and fuels my hostility

Love the people, hate the job
yin and yang-opposing force
You wouldn't know the truth in front of you
you conniving corporate whore

Depressive demeaning tasks
undermining our esteem
Blank stares of the walking dead
cut and bled by corporate greed

Imminent synaptic shutdown
thought process losing control
Rage broiling beneath my skin
Tedious toil takes its toll

Euphemistic language contorted
in vain attempts to conceal the truth
I can hear  what is unspoken
and it's exposing you

Drowning in deception
one lie at a time
Remind me again how lucky I am
it always slips my mind

Going through the motions
Triggering emotions
of frustration, angst and spite
Repetitive monotony
Monopolizing me
taking the time to take away my time

We aren't the mindless driveling drones
that you'd love for us to be
We have our own lives away from here
so screw the company!!!

Québecois Rain
Lyrics and Music by Scott Mapes...
Scott Mapes:Guitars,Bass,Vocals...
David Bell:Drums,Keyboards

Oú sont-elles? Les joies de la vie?
Always seem to be eluding me
A friend to talk to is all we really need
Don’t need the money, Don’t need the greed

Why do I try? Tell me now, what do you care?
I guess I should be glad somebody’s finally there
All those nights alone seemed like a million years to me
The nights we had together flashed by instantly

CHORUS
I was trapped in an aura of emptiness
darkness in my soul
Pain despair and hopelessness
taking all control
Then one night I bared my soul
you listened to my pain
as I stared through empty eyes into the Québecois rain

I guess my only hope is to remember to forget
Always looking back has done nothing for me yet
Except make me the one I never wanted to be
If I looked a little harder, maybe I could see

If you could see yourself anytime through my eyes
You’d see things differently from a different line of sight
The way that others see us is seldom how we see ourselves
Everybody always sometimes has their doubts

Forgive me, if you can, for my lack of expression
You know I truly care, but I’m no good with affection
Maybe I show it best when I give it no thought
You know I mean it if I say it or not

But, what I feel, I cannot describe
Something simply amazing inside
Maybe some day, the words will finally find me
Then again, maybe not, mais he, c’est la vie

REPEAT CHORUS

Where one’s from makes no matter
What’s important is who they are after
Initial contact has been established
And you see the soul within the shell

Love and friendship, a strong combination
The world against you, with you I’d be standing
Makes no difference that surely we’d be losing
It’s just the price one pays for a friend
No price too steep...not even the end

REPEAT CHORUS

Nanji
Lyrics and music by Scott Mapes...
Scott Mapes:Guitars,Bass,Vocals...
David Bell:Drums

Only but a glimpse on the eye of the mind
of a memory once beautiful
And even the mightiest of men might kneel to weep

Another place I’ve been to-another part of me left behind
That I’ll never get back no matter how I try
Yet I keep returning to search for the missing piece
Questions asked into the air will never answer me

Timeslides from days gone past
play on the viewscreen of my mind
Memories once beautiful-some still so
both can bring me down to cry

Old school days and long lost friends
running through the rain in the summer time
Ocean breeze and coast side towns
and sunrises over mountainsides

Inner visions seen unto ourselves
-       people and places passing through our lives
The ones we Don’t want seen can’t be helped
for they are engraved upon our minds

And so they’ll be remembered until we are no more
Until then I must sometimes watch mine
as you must sometimes watch yours

IF
Lyrics and Music by Scott Mapes.....
Scott Mapes;Lead/Ryhthm Guitars-Bass Guitar-Vocals...
David Bell;Drums, Acoustic Guitar....
Jon Gillespie:Keyboards and Additional Background Vocals

If I had a million dollars
I guess that would be all right
But there’d still be something missing
without you by my side

They say money can’t buy happiness
and what they say is true
On a long and lonesome sunny Sunday
it just can’t kill the blues

If I could rule the world
I’d try hard to be fair
All that power would mean nothing
If I didn’t have you there

If our actions affect appearance
how do we present ourselves?
No second chance at first impressions
so what do we say or tell?

CHORUS
If I had half the answers
could I turn you back around?
Sometimes things unseen
Are meant to be unfound
If the trail of a thousand tears
starts with one mistake
Can we learn to sidestep
circle 'round the game?

If dreams reflect our hearts’ desires
is that why you’re there each night?
Do I have to dance with darkness
'fore I finally see the light?

If truth fell on fertile soil
would deceit destroy the seed?
Or does the light find a way
when it has to do its deed?

If we could have one question answered
would we choose the right thing to ask?
A new enlightened point of view
or would we blow the chance?

As we increase our tech-knowledge
does our spirit fade and die?
When I find you in my thoughts
I know my spirit’s still alive

REPEAT CHORUS

Reflections
Lyrics, music, guitars and vocals by Scott Mapes

Eyes of my reflection reflecting into me
I can't see what it is that you see in me
I guess I should just be grateful, and not question the reasons why
I find all the answers that I need when I look into your eyes

Somebody told me, someday, -someone would see the things you see
In my bitter blackness, I could not believe
I had abandoned hope, but hope awaited patiently
And in my darkest hour, you gave your heart to me

Now I see that prayers are answered, and sins can be forgiven
Though not always in the manner that we had intended
My eyes were finally opened to what was given us
To think I almost lost it nearly breaks my heart

Often I had questioned my being- could it be a mistake?
Somebody told me God doesn't make mistakes
Perhaps I was overlooked in the cosmic scheme of things?
No, there's a path for you, a path for me, a path laid out for everybody

Then our paths crossed and our lives touched
slowly merged to one
So many connections so close to us
that we never saw

Ten-thousand days alone nearly broke me in two
But I see it was worth the wait to find the love in you
No matter how long I hold you, it's never long enough
Every kiss you’ve given me, I clearly recall

Every time you look at me, I see more than just a look
Every time you touch me, I feel more than just a touch
So I give you now no boundaries, no line that can't be crossed
Put your arms around me and listen to the beating of my heart

Something Else
Lyrics and music by Scott Mapes.....
Scott Mapes:Guitars,Bass,Vocals....
David Bell:Minimalist Percussion

I’ve been looking for a better way
So I can wake to a better day
9 to 5 has got me down
Pushed and shoved and kicked around
I’ve got to find a way so I can get away
I’m tired of being a rat trapped in a little cage

I’ve been looking for a brand-new road
One I’ve never been down before
Discovery is half the fun
Arrival means departure’s begun
You’ve got to take the time and see the sights along the way
Or you’ll never know what’s outside your little cage
Just outside your little cage

CHORUS
We’re all looking for something else
A little extra outside ourselves
A little something just beyond our reach
A little extra  no one can teach
Are you looking for something else?
A little something just within yourself
A little something  just within your reach
A little song only you can sing

Looking for the little red-haired girl
Working up the courage to get my nerve
Walk on over and just say “hi”
You might just be her kind of guy
But you'll never know if you never take a chance
So get out on the floor Charlie Brown and dance

I’ve been looking for a brand-new dance
Leave them mesmerized, in a trance
Ginga en la roda, step in, play the game
Inside the circle, we’re on a level plane
Give in to your instinct , relinquish all control
The beat of the music will show you where to go

REPEAT CHORUS

I’ve been looking for some brand new words
Another way to expand my world
Je voudrais pour parler en français
O hablar en español today
The more you know to say, the more you’ll understand
If ever you’re a stranger lost in a stranger land

REPEAT CHORUS

I’ve been looking for a better way
Tired of being trapped in a little cage
Looking for the little red-haired girl
Working up the courage to get my nerve
“Do or do not, there is no try”
Said a little three-foot green Jedi
In small packages there come big things
Now let’s see what tomorrow brings

I’ve been looking for a better way

Manual Circuit Override(The highest price, PT II)
Lyrics and music by Scott Mapes.....
Scott Mapes, guitars, bass, vocals,Casio Data Bank 150 digital wristwatch....
David Bell:Drums
A real human caught in a trap of cold, heartless technology
if only I could find a route for escape
Somebody please alter the inferior programming
have human emotions faded away?

Walking through the green fluorescent static
I realize I’m completely alone
Does anybody out there hear me plead
or have they all gone home?

How did I ever fall into this machine?
How many victims has it already claimed
What becomes of the data they feed
into its electric brain?

Through the walls, I hear them converse-
people of the outer world
They no longer have feelings of joy, nor hurt
this damn machine is their precious pearl

Human emotions have been forgotten
this mechanical world is so stale and bland
While I’m trapped inside this computer
I might as well rewrite its program

The circuit boards might take my life
but I’m willing to face that risk
I must make sure that the human mind
is not overrun and replaced by data disk

To the computer’s brain I make my way
when I reach it, I’ll reroute its cerebral lines
When its thinking is rearranged
it’s worshipers are in for a surprise

Here they come now to appraise their megabyte gem
summoning its power, they stare-hypnotized by its glowing screen
I smile inside their god as I await my emotive revenge
logic presented is not what they’re expecting

“Attention all humans in my presence...hear me and obey! I am a man-made machine with no pulse nor feelings,
and what thoughts I might have, were programmed into.  Me. I am only a circuit board and a screen.  It is not
right for you to worship me as you have, even though what you put in, I give back. I am here only to serve yo-not
to be worshiped by you. In worshiping me, you have forgotten that your fellow humans need appraisal too. I need
only electric power to bring me to life, humans need companionship from other humans if your race is to survive. I
am only a machine.  I need no love-only electricity-to make my screen glow. Heed my warning, you will reap what
you sow..."

My goal has been reached, I escape the machine and regain my memories in time
But I wonder if the message they’ve seen has gone further than their minds

Then they look around and realize the message’s worth and mingle amongst themselves
But someday in the future, the machines will again take over Earth
and again I’ll have to break their evil electric spell
