So, how did we come up with such a name anyway?
What in the world is a Skovol Bomb? You're about to
find out.

Of the many jobs Scott Mapes (MD) has had over the
years, one was serving in the field of protective
services for nearly two years. The team to which MD
belonged was trained and headed by Sgt. Vladimir
Skovol, and naturally progressed into calling
themselves the Northeast Indiana Skovol Unit.

MD actually never saw much action (which, in any law
enforcement field, a boring day is a
good day!),
beyond stopping a minor burglary and preventing a
factory fire from spreading. No involvement in busting
up a Lagrange County, IN Amish drug ring though.
(Yes, Amish gangs do, in fact, exist).

One of Sgt. Skovol's contribution to the field was the
creation of  non-violent (and unauthorized) , more
potent form of tear gas, which the unit came to dub
"The Skovol Bomb". There were two versions. A
personal grenade size, and one which used a regular
tear gas canister. The canister or grenade were
loaded with sulfur and methane (as far as anyone
knows, anyway) and other irritating-but non-lethal-
chemicals. The only requirement was that they were
only to be used if there was ventilation nearby. In two
years, MD never had to use one, but did have to be
subjected to one before being authorized to use them,
and described the experience as "Horribly wretched."

MD has continued to manufacture the occasional
Skovol Bomb, and has passed instruction on to David
Bell and Scott Bockrath. In fact, Mr. Bockrath
consistently manufactures the most potent Skovol
Bombs ever made.

Among the many names MD has tried to think of for a
group are:

Endymion
Initial Alliance
Atomic Spring Roll
Uncle Spot

Foxhole Atheist

Conflict Theory (Released "Straight Time Keeping"
before discovering this name was taken)
7th Echo (Also Taken)
Finally, MD realizing a great name had been right
under his nose for two years, contacted Sgt. Skovol to
ask if he could use it, and that was it, Skovol Unit was
born.

Or maybe the name is just an inside fart joke. You decide!
